Florida Workers’ Comp Premiums Going Down

It hasn’t even been quite a full year since Florida’s workers’ compensation insurance premiums shot up by 14.5%, and yet it seems that business owners are already going to get some relief from these high premiums.

After reviewing the state’s workers’ compensation numbers, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) recommended to state lawmakers that they actual decrease the state’s overall premium level by 9.6%! The reason for the reduction is related to the fact that the number of workers’ compensation claims in Florida have decreased by approximately 8% over the past two years, which has helped to offset the increases made necessary by two decisions made by the Florida Supreme Court in 2016 that favored injured workers’ rights. In all likelihood, the proposed changes will go into effect at the start of the next year which will all businesses to save money
