Coral Springs Man On Bike Hospitalized After Being Struck By Car

An elderly man was struck by a car on February 2, 2014 while riding his bike in Coral Springs, Florida. He was traveling along Sawgrass Expressway and State Road 7 when he was hit. He was subsequently taken to the hospital. Coral Springs Fire Rescue responded at the scene and reported that the man was brought to the Broward Health North hospital. His injuries are reported as being serious. This was not the only serious car accident to occur in the area during the weekend. A man died in Tamarac the previous day when his car struck a light pole, which resulted in the car being split in two. The Sun-Sentinel reported that the crash caused the front half of the Infini to slide across the Eliathah Seventh-Day Adventist Church. The accident occurred at the early morning hour of 5:45 by University Drive. The name of the driver who was killed was not released by the police.

There was an additional accident that happened on Saturday, February 1, 2014 that resulted in two people being brought to the hospital after their car was struck in a hit and run accident. It occurred around the 3500 block of West Sunrise Boulevard in Lauderhill.

Also, in the Miami-Dade area, a man was arrested after allegedly running someone over while riding an all terrain vehicle. This incident also occurred on Saturday, February 1st. Terrance Frederick was arrested after the running the individual over. The 41 year old man also injured a firefighter and tried to flee the scene.

The police reported that there were a group of ATVs traveling together. One of the drivers had an accident that occurred at Northwest 133 Street and 22 Avenue. Police and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue appeared at the scene in response to the incident. The ATV drivers attempted to flee due to the fact that it is illegal to ride such vehicles on the streets in Florida.

Frederick’s ATV failed to start. When the police went to approach him, the vehicle restarted and he fled. Police reported that the man lost control of the ATV and ran over an injured ATV driver who was being treated by firefighters. He also hit one of the firefighters who was attending to the individual and then left his ATV to run away. However, he was later caught and apprehended.
