Construction Worker Injured After Crane Collapses In Fort Lauderdale

On May 17, the collapse of a crane in the 1800 block of Fort Lauderdale’s South Ocean Lane resulted in the serious injury of a construction worker working for Tom Krips Construction. The individual was transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue after part of the crane allegedly landed on his leg, and reportedly crushed his foot.

The crane, which wasn’t in operation at the time of the accident, was being used at the Intercoastal Waterway for seawall repair. The work had been going for a number of weeks, with the crane being taken down when the mishap took place.

Two of the witnesses that called 911 to report the accident indicated that law enforcement officials arrived approximately five minutes later. One of those individuals actually saw the accident take place, while the other heard the victim screaming in pain and went to investigate the situation. In the wake of the accident, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, better known by O.S.H.A., has begun a full investigation.

As the employee continues on his long journey of recovery, he’s likely to be in touch with a Fort Lauderdale Workers’ Compensation Lawyer. Obtaining a qualified and experienced Workers’ Compensation Attorney helps ensure that his legal rights are fully protected, which is what the Law Offices of Evan M. Ostfeld, P.A. offers on a daily basis.

Without the proper legal representation from a Fort Lauderdale Workers’ Compensation Lawyer, the worker could be vulnerable to attempts by the employer and/or their insurance company to quickly pay them off. That can have serious ramifications if complications develop with such injuries.

Other factors that need to be considered include: present and future lost wages, medical expenses, one’s permanent disability rating and whether or not the person will be able to return to work in the same capacity as what they were doing at the time of the accident. If not, they may require vocational retraining and job placement assistance. Being made aware of other possible benefits available to the injured employee is something that Evan M. Osfeld, Esquire and his staff can help provide.

So if you or someone you know is in need of a Fort Lauderdale Workers’ Compensation Attorney that will zealously fight for your rights to the best of their ability, make sure to contact Law Offices of Evan M. Ostfeld, P.A. at (866) I SUE YOU, (954) 227-7529, evan@attorney4life.com. Without such help, your financial and medical situation could potentially turn to disaster!
